one of my happy pills.

Bismillah...

My fingers have been dancing frequently on this keyboard these days. Oh wellz, all thanks to the long semester break. But school's starting in less than two weeks. And... Hello Semester 2!

Okay but I'm not gonna rant about school in this post. It's arabic calligraphy time!
I don't remember doing a post on calligraphy alone, so, here's the first!

Just before I brag on my work, I would like to express my personal thoughts on calligraphy.

When and how did it all started?
Hmm, to be honest, I wasn't THAT passionate with calligraphy when I was young (well I'm still young). I was just OKAY with it. I just liked it for how it looks and how it was awesomely presented. But, the urge to know and do more started during my STE times. Secondary 4, 2010 it was.
Back then, the classmates (for idk what reason) were sooo into this arabic calligraphy thing. They will do "khat" on any piece of paper everyday, even during lessons! So, that whole scene influenced me a bit, so I tried and wrote the simplest word, Bismillaahirrahmaanirrahiim.
From there, the interest grows.... till now. Alhamdulillah.
I just love the exclusiveness and elegance of the arabic calligraphy :')

Now, after two years, I've gained and learnt a lot from this. I've learnt a few techniques and have made use of a few mediums. I even did some small business with it. It was all unplanned. I never had any intention to do business with "khat", but people came and requested for my service. Rizkun minallah, blessed.

Alright, now, for the pictures to do the talking.

One of my latest work, done by me yesternight, when I was bored. This is sketched on a special and unique skecthbook from ArtFriend. I love the texture of the paper, which is canvas-like.
And for the above work, I used pastels (crayons) to smudge and blend the background. It's my first time playing around with caryons (cos I usually avoid my fingers from getting too dirty). But, I just felt like trying something new yesternight. The pastels were from Daiso, always $2. Haha

Oh and did I mention that I love colours? :')

This is the latest, half done by me, yesternight.
The word reads "Houb Salaam" which means LOVE and PEACE.
Hmm, since it's not 100% complete yet, shall not elaborate more. Heh nothing muchhh.

Alright, the above work is done on a canvas. I bought it at ArtFriend! Did the background with the use of poster colours. And it's been a while since I last painted on something. By "a while", I really meant A WHILE.
The word above reads "Fastabiqul Khairaat" by the way. Go figure the meaning yourself, haha.

This was done on my sketch book. This is not much of a calligraphy la, more like a normal arabic typography. I just wanna emphasize on the quote, that's all. And yup, flowers? Florals? Me likehhh ;)

What they say? Save the best for the last? Aiwaaaah.
This is one of my fave! My very first entry on the newly-bought sketch book. Straightaway wrote this after I reached home from buying this book. Excited me, whats new.
It reads Bismillaahirrahmaanirrahiim.

When I'm down, I'll fill my time doing things that I love. And arabic calligraphy is not an exception, cause it's one of my happy pills. :D
